About

The San Sebastian Winery in St. Augustine is an acclaimed local winery established in 1996. It currently stands in one of Henry Flagler’s east coast railway buildings, and you can feel this genuine, well preserved history. History courses through the walls and up to the ceilings as patrons enjoy fine local wine from high-quality muscadine grapes. Guests visit for a glass of premium grade wine straight from the area.

Beyond a simple winery, you can find a fantastic and renowned gift shop, a rooftop drinking area with excellent views of the city downtown, tours of the facility, live music, and special complementary tastings.

You can find the winery St. Augustine at 157 King Street, a very important corner just as you enter downtown St. Augustine from US-1. It is open Monday through Thursday, and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The winery is not the only place in town for amazing local drinks! The neighboring St. Augustine Distillery makes for a nice complementary stop.

Take a Tour

For many, the tour is the highlight. It helps that it always includes a little wine tasting!

Guests will begin the tour with an introductory video, covering the initial creation of the winery and its role in the community. Afterwards, guests will join a guide for a walking tour through multiple parts of the 18,000 square foot facility. Visit the barrel room where wine is housed and aged, then head over to the processing room where 5,000-gallon stainless steel tanks where wine is fermented to perfection.

The tour carries you from the initial stages of creation to the final steps of bottle prep. The tours are free for all ages (yes, children are welcome), and are about 45 minutes in length. There is no current booking requirement for tours, but keep in mind both group sizes and timeframe. Tours begin about every 20-25 minutes. Tours end at 5 p.m.

Rooftop Restaurant

After an afternoon tour, be sure to spend a bit of time at the San Sebastian rooftop restaurant. Known as The Cellar Upstairs, this acclaimed dining area is one of the top places to eat in St. Augustine and offers an incredible view. Overlooking the water on one side and the city on the other, the rooftop restaurant primarily offers light appetizers and wine. This is not necessarily a full meal dinner, so we recommend it as a post or pre-dinner stop. Most evenings feature live music. There is no cover charge.
