Originating in Anna Maria Island, FL, in 2012 and meeting with resounding enthusiasm by residents, The Donut Experiment expanded to St. Augustine in hopes of reaching wider audiences. The Donut Experiment is a franchise with other locations in Lombard, IL, and Alvaton, KY, with more planned openings shortly.
In this unique shop, YOU get to choose your icing, topping, and drizzle and watch as your creation is brought to life before your eyes. In addition to chocolate, vanilla, caramel icing, and caramel drizzle, you can choose from raspberry and peanut butter drizzle and toppings such as Oreo, graham cracker, etc. bacon, Fruity Pebbles, and Reese’s Pieces. There are also special candy bar toppings and special drizzles and icings that change regularly—just ask the shop when you visit about the specials for the day!
Daily “Special” donuts include Key Lime and Sriracha. These cannot be customized as other donuts can. Mixed donuts are sold in a dozen or half-dozen options.

Island Donuts
Created by two cousins who saw the need for a donut shop in St. Augustine, Island Donuts today serves gourmet donuts and breakfast sandwiches and fresh hot coffee (and tea).
All donuts are made fresh from old-fashioned to daily flavors such as Guava Filled, Butter Finger, Caramel Apple, and Kit Kat (daily flavors change each day). Fritters and cinnamon rolls are also on the menu. Egg sandwiches with cheese, bacon, and sausage are served on bread, bagels, English muffins, or croissants.
For larger orders, donuts can be purchased by the half-dozen or dozen. Island Donut serves its sweets daily from 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. on A1A Beach Blvd.
Itty Bitty Donuts
Want a small donut with a big taste? Itty Bitty Donuts on San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine specializes in mini donuts. Their specialty sugars and a wide range of toppings ensure these tiny treats satisfy the sweetest tooths. Itty Bitty says their “Hot” sign is always on!
Made-to-order donuts are baked with house-made flavored sugars. Staple menu items are cinnamon, chocolate, Cuban espresso, and snowcaps (donuts lightly dusted with powdered sugar). Monthly specials are offered, with such tantalizing flavors as apple pie and lemon poppy seed—order by the dozen. Even your pups are welcome!
