Experience These February St. Augustine Events on Your Vacation

With its glorious water views and rewarding historical attractions, St. Augustine is one of the best romantic weekend escapes in Florida. There’s romance in the air and adventure around every corner in the ancient city. Stay at one of our seasonal waterfront St. Augustine vacation rentals. And when you do, make sure to peek at the St. Augustine events below at the tail end of winter.

St. Augustine Beach Pier Art and Craft Festival

St. Augustine has a lot of wonderful character, and you can see it all unfold at the St. Augustine Beach Pier Art and Craft Festival. Following right after Valentine’s Day, you can head to the St. Johns County Ocean Pier at 350 A1A Beach Blvd. Walk the aisles of booths filled to the brim with all your market standards: ceramics, photography, jewelry, statues, garden items, soaps and shampoos, and much more. It’s a dazzling place to visit and, of course, every item has its own unique St. Augustine flair. This is surely one of St. Augustine’s best family activities.

Find the ideal souvenir for your trip back home. The art and craft festival recurs a number of times throughout the spring and fall seasons, about once a month. February’s event is slated for Saturday, February 15th and Sunday, February 16th. It is expected to begin at 10 a.m. on both days and close around 4 p.m.

5th Annual Mardi Gras 5K Beach Run

It’s a (casual and medium-paced) race to the finish! Support the Give the Y Campaign for a beautiful trip through Anastasia State Park. The event is in support of swim lessons, camp, and an assortment of afterschool programs for St. Augustine youth.

The race is $25 per person. This includes entrance to the race, as well as a packet with a t-shirt and other goodies. Upon finishing the race, you can bring your bib up to Salt Life for a free beer (or soda). This is a rewarding and productive way to experience the isolated and quiet coastline of the Salt Runoff of the grand Matanzas River.

The race will begin at 300 Anastasia State Park Road at 8:30 a.m. sharp. It is expected to conclude around 10:30 a.m. Spots are still available.

St. Anastasia Concert Series

Where there’s love in the air, there’s also music. Sometimes faint, and sometimes grand and loud, music is a staple of St. Augustine’s beach living. One of the best places to enjoy some jams and escape the crisp February air is with the St. Anastasia Catholic Church. This famous church on St. George Street is a defining local attraction. From late October to April every year, the church hosts its exquisite Concert Series.

The shows are free to attend. They often begin at 6 p.m. and feature renowned musicianship from local leaders and popular professional musicians.

One of the best shows is in February. A week after Valentine’s Day, on Feb 22nd, the church will host Arianna and Robin. Their show is called Four Hand, Two Piano, and the pair performs complementary and sometimes dueling masterworks for warming guests.

This is the 10th season of the concert series. Most shows are free but a donation is recommended. The church may host special shows in the Celebration Hall (these are usually $10).

St. Anastasia Catholic Church is located at 5205 A1A S. Parking is available in the downtown historic area.

Spanish Wine Festival

Join many of the local wine aficionados for another season of the Spanish Wine Festival. The event incorporates wine and history for a weekend of fantastic activities, including a special wine pairing dinner at Flagler College’s Solarium and a tasting at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum. Many of the local businesses are involved with special seasonal wines and exclusive dinners.

The event officially concludes at the Flagler College Markland House at 2 p.m. This winey weekend runs from February 28th to February 29th.
