Beach Horseback Riding

Without question, the best place to experience beach horseback riding in St. Augustine is with Equestrian Adventures of Florida.

Adventurers are able to book certain tour packages encompassing the beach, the oak forests, and the state park preserves. Customized experiences can also cater to your specific hopes and interests. Generally, different terrains will offer rather different experiences.

Tours are available for a minimum of one hour all the way up to a full day.

Currently, the team has capped single tour attendance at six riders, all at least 10 or older, with a maximum weight of 250 pounds.

You can do a lot to prepare for the adventure. The team highly recommends sunglasses and hats to avoid our hot Florida sun. Hydration is key as the majority of the time you won’t have the luxury of hopping to a store for some bottled water. Long pants, sunscreen, bug spray, backpacks, and cameras are all recommended.

Horseback riding tours are available every day of the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are required, and the staff enforces safe social distancing practices. You can call 386-846-8386 to book an appointment, as walk-ups will not be allowed.

You will depart at your scheduled time at a beach staging area, address loosely Mala Compra Rd, palm coast FL. The office is located at Bridle Path Lane, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

The majority of trips take place on the beaches of Palm Coast, about 45 minutes south of St. Augustine. Palm Coast can be reached easily by heading south on 95 and taking the Palm Coast exit. Carry this road all the way east across a toll bridge to enter the area.

You can call the Equestrian Adventures of Florida office to book your adventure or obtain additional info.

Trail Riding

Equestrian Adventures of Florida is not the only adventure provider in the area.

The Florida Agricultural Museum is a 465-acre farm on the fringes of downtown Palm Coast, Florida. It is about 40 minutes from St. Augustine.

The Florida Agricultural Museum hosts numerous events throughout the year, such as a Halloween hay ride, spooky walkthroughs, poetry and storytimes for families, and the big holiday light drive through tour.

You can also find year-long activities. You can stop by the museum to see a 5,000-square-foot dairy barn alongside many (many!) cows. You can also see many other assorted farm life, like the piney woods rooter pigs, ducks, turkeys, chickens, and, yes, horses. All these animals surround multiple restored buildings from the 1930’s. The most notable is perhaps a dry goods store that looks plucked right from the early 20th century. Some of these St. Augustine historic sites date back even further than the great depression. A 1890’s pioneer homestead really captures that genuine Old Florida feeling.

Of course, horseback riding is in full force at the museum. Guests come in and out year-round for half hour and multi-hour horseback riding trips. Compared to Equastrian, trips are usually shorter and more family-oriented.

The agricultural museum is located at 7900 N Old Kings Rd. You will find it almost directly off of US-1 heading south. Take US-1 about 435-40 minutes south out of St. Augustine and take a left at Old Kings Road. It can be easy to miss the turn as there are no obvious landmark points. Take this less than a mile down and you will quickly see signs to your left. Come year-round as the weather in St. Augustine is gorgeous and there are always things to do.

Parking is available on-site. We strongly suggest calling Florida Agricultural Museum ahead for horseback riding availability and general booking.
